A new mum

Next door reported this morning that Sparkles is the proud first-time mum of four kittens.  And I remember when she was just a kitten herself...

Wow, that was quick.

Is "congratulations" the appropriate thing to say here?

Hope Miss Sparkles will be getting de-sexed now. My sister-in-law had a cat who managed to fit in a couple of litters before she finally got the cat to the vet to be sorted out. They do seem to breed very quickly!?

I'd love to see a photo of them when they're a bit bigger :)

I know! I didn't even have time to get a baby shower organised.

I certainly hope Miss Sparkles will be desexed, but I'm not holding my breath. They bought two more kittens this year and with Sparkles and the four kittens there's currently seven cats next door. I have my doubts that any of them are desexed...

Have your children put in their request for one from the neighbour next door yet?

Thankfully, that thought hasn't occured to them yet. I suspect they haven't thought through what might happen to the kittens next (being given away) because they are eagerly anticipating the kittens being big enough to stray into our yard. I think they have delightful images of a troup of little paws coming across our grass to the back door. I'm not so delighted by this thought. I keep talking about a dog...
